Got award for outstanding support in FP from govt counterpart.
What sparked your passion for family planning?
I’m very passionate about FP since my academic days and when got opportunity to work in highest populous state ,Bihar; i chose to work in Saran Division, with high unmet need for spacing (25.5%),very low mCPR (11.56%) and very high TFR (3.4) leading to high maternal mortality (306).As a public health expert I decided to work for postpartum FP in this geographical area, so that I can contribute more in reducing maternal and child mortality through my interventions in most vulnerable population
Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:
1. With a vision to provide access of contraception to PPW I did institutionalization of PPFP services at all delivery points and now every 9th PPW is adopting it as a contraceptive of choice
2. Health system strengthening by involving religious groups leaders , representatives from education, members of civil society, representatives from marginalized societies, divisional/ district health society members, administrative personnel in PPFP/PPIUCD programe programming and implementation
If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work?
I will use this platform to empower couples with more access and wide range of contraceptive choices provision in a way where quality, informed choice, volunteerism, respectful care is the norm for service delivery and pursuance of reproductive rights is the penultimate goal of client satisfaction.
