Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I do a lot of home visits to give people in my community education and advice so they can adopt a method of family planning that will change their lives. I already have a lot of clients that agree to use a method of family planning and see the improvements in their lives and the lives of their family.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

First, because I realized it is the best way a person can control their power to have children. Second, I see too many children having children and that leads to a lot of children with malnutrition. I believe family planning can reduce malnutrition.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your family planning efforts, and what have you done to overcome it?

The biggest challenge I have is not being able to help clients with any secondary effects of family planning. I would like to have more training so that I can help my community more. I have discussed this with my supervisor to get more training.

What is your (country/region/city)’s biggest challenge in family planning, and how can it be addressed?

One of the biggest challenges in family planning in Haiti is getting young women to choose a method before they have had a child. We can address it by educating and setting examples for these young women. We need girls to finish school and wait to have children until they are physically, mentally, and economically ready.

What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

In the next five years I would like to have everyone in my community educated on the benefits of family planning. I would like them to have access to all types of family planning - short term and long term. I would like to have a big community event using some satisfied users of family planning so they can share how they have improved their lives with the rest of the community.
