Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I have facilitated over 70 training batches of doctors and nurses at the facility level & trained 1000 health service providers. I have also conducted regular post training visits and motivated over 60% health service providers to give IUCD services. I have also conducted regular orientation sessions for ANMs and ASHAs to increase awareness among women on family planning services.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

While working in the field, I realized that a large number of women lack awareness about contraception and have little freedom to make reproductive health choices. This led me to work in the field and to conduct orientation session with the CHWs to increase awareness about various methods of contraception. I have worked consistently over four years to offer women a basket of contraceptive choices that meet their needs.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

I have facilitated regular counselling sessions for doctors, nurses & ANMs to enable them to provide effective & empathetic counselling.
I am also a part of IDF’s innovative model for training which requires a team of trainers to travel to facilities and train the cohort of trainable providers including doctors, nurses and ANMs. This gives me an opportunity to identify the on-ground challenges faced by the providers and liaise with the district officials to try & find solutions.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I will use the grant to increase the scale of on-site trainings and will also use the grant to educate the providers and health intermediaries about the latest family services and technologies.
