Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I have spearheaded the formation of Family Planning Technical Working Group
I have helped the group to understand the advanced Family Planning Principles
I have initiated a resource mobilization forum where other health partners learned about the Family Planning needs

What sparked your passion for family planning?

My passion was sparked by the fact that I help make my community better. Through Family Planning I make sure young girls make informed decision, I contribute to them finishing school and earn decent living thereafter, I also help young women manage their health and welfare by having manageable children they can comfortably take care of and I do this through advocacy. I am a world changer imparting hope in every life everyday

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your family planning efforts, and what have you done to overcome it?

The biggest challenge was the lack of support from religious leaders in implementing age appropriate SRH information and laxity from some leaders in government. This notwithstanding, I used the Advanced Family Planning SMART approach and have been able to create a Family Planning Technical Working Group that is the centre of challenging old assumptions through advocating for FP needs

What is your (country/region/city)’s biggest challenge in family planning, and how can it be addressed?

The biggest challenge in family planning is Teenage Pregnancy Rate, currently at 18%. Moreover their is great ambivalence
among religious groups in implementing age appropriate comprehensive sexuality education which makes it challenging to address Sexual reproductive health and rights. This challenge can be addressed through intentional advocacy efforts that are supported by County government and a national curriculum on Comprehensive Sexuality Education

What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

I would like to work with religious groups and County governments in dissemination and operationalization of age appropriate SRHR information that will help young girls and boys make informed decision. I believe this will potentially reduce Teenage Pregnancy and help the next generation live healthier and more fulfilling lives
