Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

created and designed creative and innovative youth and adolescents’ strategies that promote access and utilization of Contraceptive services in 14 counties of the republic of Kenya. managed to train 40 Contraceptive champions through ‘the Contraceptive De’ sure way banner’. In order to break barriers associated with adolescents accessing Contraceptives, I initiated digital platform that allowed adolescents, Young women living with HIV and those with disability in rural and peri urban areas to access and utilize Contraceptive in public hospitals, through WhatsApp, Contraceptive Champions who equally double as peer providers were able to link them to Services, while at the same time replenishing stocks of commodities such as pills and condoms. 1.2m SRHR services offered, 55% being FP services

What sparked your passion for family planning?

When growing up i realized many of my classmates who were young girls were dropping out of school due to pregnancies thus increased poverty coupled with orphanhood.while working with girls and women in rural, i noted that even though Government policy on re- enrollment was available most of those who dropped out of school due to pregnancies failed to re enrolled due to self stigma and discrimination by other students in school this sparked my passion for FP especially for girls and young women

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

Through my leadership, Comprehensive sexuality education has empowered more that 5,000 young girls and women to demand for their right to access SRHR as envision in article 43 of the Kenya Constitution.
Working with 25 Coachees drawn from 6 institutions of Higher learning, I have promoted utilization of long Acting Revisable Contraceptive Methods. This has seen more young women complete their education without worries related to unplanned pregnancies.mobilized parents to support access of FP

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

As a winner a will seek to ensure that media highlights the plight of girls and young women who are not able to access services due to policies that are strict on young girls in schools accessing and utilizing Family planning even though sexually active. I will use $1000 to increase uptake of long Acting Reversable Contraceptive Methods in Narok County which has 40% of young girls aged 15-19years pregnant (KDHS 2014), Gender norms that hinder access and utilization of FP will be demystified
