I am an ambassador of Change in my community as far as family planning and reproductive health is concerned. I have attended a family planning training by DSW Kenya and taught my community the importance of family planning and how to plan their families.
Most people seek advice on reproductive health and family planning from me and they get satisfactory recommendations.
I am second born in a family of eight children. I was born and raised in slums with numerous challenges especially in education whereby I had to drop out of school to allow my elder sister complete her secondary education. This could not be the same if my parents had practised family planning. For this reason I would like other people to plan their families so as to care for them well.
I am a family planning champion. During my day to day work, I come across many young adolescent in need of modern contraceptive services. I normally refer them to a nearby health facility but they don't get the services due to stockouts. I have discussed the challege with the youth, men and women in my community and empowered them on importance of public participation so as to tirelessly advocate for more allocations by the government on reproductive health in the county budget.
Women in our city have an unmet need for family planning.
If we invest more resources annually to fully meet the need for modern contraceptive services, we shall reduce unintended pregnancies , reduce unsafe abortion and decrease maternal deaths
Establish a youth friendly resource centre where the youth can access sexual reproductive health information and services in the slums of Bangladesh in Mombasa Kenya.
