Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

I have started my career as Peer Educator at the age of 14 with an organization called “AIDS AWARENESS SOCIETY” and then become part of number of Peer Education and Advocacy Programs related to HIV/AIDS, SRHR, Family Planing and THEATER. my volunteer and professional experience in past 10 years related to the PEER Education, HIV/AIDS, Sexual Health and Reproductive Rights, Active Citizenship, and Theater for Development. Later I managed different Projects I have directly worked with marginalized and the most at risk young people. trained them on Peer Education, Theater and formulated “Peer Interaction Clubs” I managed to bring a positive change in the lives of 10,00s of young people through peer education and theater.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

Poverty is the main cause that persuaded me to work on Family Planing. Pakistan is a developing country and over 65% people belong to upper and lower middle class families; they are unemployed, willing to sit idle at home while doing nothing productive. Sex is an overwhelming opportunity for them. But they are not aware of contraceptive methods. There are many misconceptions too e.g. every new born Baby is a prospect of Income for them. They are shy to buy condoms/pills thus undergo unsafe sex.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your family planning efforts, and what have you done to overcome it?

The biggest challenge in FP for me is to motivate people because our ancestors have had originated some moral values as rules that are stills alive and in-practice in 2016 generation; majority people have faith on uneducated DAI (Midwife) system. To counter this challenge, we cannot change minds of people but we can change source of thinking of people. We should made capacity building plan for community midwives with government of Pakistan especially in rural and deprive areas of of urban region

What is your (country/region/city)’s biggest challenge in family planning, and how can it be addressed?

In Pakistan, cultural & religious institutions consider family planning a very wrong deed and have been fiercely resistant. People follow this social pressure instead of considering their own health and resources. We lack family planning centers. Myths about family planning practices are reason thus an extremely slow response in the Pakistani population. Women are interested in such family planning practices than men, although the patriarchal society prohibits its implementation.

What do you want to accomplish in the next 5 years?

lake of awareness about family planning is a main issue in our society so my plan for next five year is raise awareness about family planning importance , Family planning Methods and family planning clinics in local and grassroot communities. and try to conduct some session in community by Family Planning Association of Pakistan and Green star aslo try to dialogue with population welfare Department for further betterment tool of awareness about Family Planning.
