Describe your contributions to and achievements in family planning.

As nformation officer for your change for a change (YCFaC) I worked with communities in helping them develop life transforming self-led programs having lasting impacts in the lives of many. Key among the numerous initiatives includes the mobilization and distribution of over 3000 bed nets and a free health fair for under five children and pregnant mothers across the country under the End to Malaria Campaign Project Scheme. i also host and coordinated all radio programs for UNFPA The Gambia Family planning campaign in Central River Region (CRR) in 2016 and Upper River Region (URR) in 2017 respectively. This give me the opportunity to attend the women deliver conference 2016 in Denmark to join the global community in the advocacy for women health and right.

What sparked your passion for family planning?

In the Gambia, young people were not privileged to freely express themselves on SRHR issues; this motivated me to dedicate my time advocating for youth to use the media as a channel to express themselves and break the culture of silence against SRHR in Gambia. As the Chair Person for Youth Action Movement under The Gambia family Planning Association this have gave him the opportunity to host the “All Girl Day” from 2015 to 2016 to give young people the opportunity to make and inform choice.

Give one or two examples of how you display leadership in your family planning work.:

With over five years experience as an Activist and radio presenter I currently provide a nation wide platform ONAIR for youth in a talk show called "Youth Show" that is on radio every Saturday sponsored by UNFPA The Gambia to discuss about pertinent issues such as Education, child right, sexual and reproductive health, Gender based violence, violence again women, women empowerment etc. In 2014 through Youth Action Movement i was able to mobilizes over 850 youth to be train on SRHR through GFPA.

If you are named a winner of 120 under 40, how will you use this new platform and the $1000 grant to advance your work? :

I will engage young people through YCFaC Sexual and reproductive health fair project to increase more family planning acceptors in rural and urban Gambia. this will advocate for policies that give opportunities to youth to be able to become agents of change in The Gambia. further more, i will use my radio show and different community radio to engage law makers, feminist, Activist, youth leaders, women and girl for the advancement of sex education in Gambia and women health in general.
